The Goldilocks Principle project explores the realm of balance within the specialism of fashion and textiles, examining the delicate equilibrium between excess and scarcity. It’s a captivating exploration of how subjective our perceptions and preferences can be. Through-out this project I experimented with an array of innovative techniques that pushed the boundaries of conventional textile design. These included latch-hooking, hand beading and glitter screen printing. Ultimately resolved in final samples made from reclaimed materials such as deadstock leather and cashmere. These tactile creations were adorned with a variety of embellishments: sequins, beads and ruffles- that added layers of texture and visual interest, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a multisensory experience. The final garment was created from deadstock cashmere knitted plush into panels, that takes its inspiration from the personalised, handmade nature seen in Japanese streetwear.
